Let's start with the environment, because the censorship of environmental science has been blatant and extreme.
Under the Bush Administration, government-employed scientists are routinely told they cannot report results indicating the progression of global warming. The United States is the last among industrialized nations to claim that carbon dioxide emissions produced by human civilization have no impact whatsoever on the world climate. This is an utterly ridiculous position, and yet one that U.S. policymakers insist upon. |

We have measured them indirectly by how their presence changes or deforms the environment that they are indirectly measured in.
Maybe this is like when we get a cold. We do not actually ever see the virus, and in fact, the cold does not directly cause our symptoms. They are caused by the reactions within our body's internal environment when our immune system responds to the invading germ or bug. We never directly experience the cold. We really experience our body's attempt to kill the virus; and for the most part, this is the source of our symptoms. |

These chemicals are acquired through foods (chemical additives) and the environment (chemicals in consumer products and work environments, primarily). Laundry products may play a significant role in the total chemical burden of typical consumers.
The use of commercial laundry detergents containing synthetic chemicals potentially exposes infants and children to harmful substances. The widespread use of fabric softeners and dryer sheets creates yet more chemical exposure through contaminated clothing. |

We will starve ourselves to death because we won't have a food supply, or even a predictable environment in which to grow food. We will poison ourselves with the toxic chemicals we are putting into our environment. We will destroy ourselves with the infectious agents we have created by facilitating the conditions under which they will flourish.
We are committing suicide as a species today. It is well past time to wake up, and the cost of staying ignorant is going to increase exponentially in the decades ahead. Eventually, people will have no choice but to wake up and do something about it. |

NiMH batteries can be reused 1,000 times before being thrown away, greatly reducing landfill and the introduction of toxic metals into the environment. Energizer's intentional manufacture and marketing of a "crippled" D battery is hampering the ability of consumers to purchase reliable high-capacity rechargeable "D" batteries. By doing so, the Energizer company is, in my opinion, engaged in practices that are extremely unfriendly to both the environment and consumers. |

Many products that carry "green" claims may in fact be slightly less damaging to the environment in one particular and narrowly-defined way, but if you look at the overall product and consider where it came from, how it was manufactured and what impact it will have downstream, you'll realize it's actually quite harmful to the environment.
No regulation of "green" claims
Today, there is absolutely no regulation of claims of "green" or "Earth friendly" products in the U.S. marketplace. |

REPPED: Firing ranges expose the environment and the ecosystem to lead pollution caused by the presence of lead in ammunition projectiles. This makes lead pollution a major concern for the public. When these bullets are fired, they emit lead particles that are then inhaled, absorbed into the skin or disposed of in community landfill facilities. Currently, very few cities are taking action to reduce the health threat and environmental burden of lead bullets.
Similar to mercury, lead is both a heavy metal and a potent neurotoxin that builds up over time in bones and soft tissue. |

The situation may also arise where the species can no longer synthesize the nutrient, and the nutrient is no longer abundant in the environment. This appears to have happened to humans in the case of vitamin C and is occurring today in the case of vitamin B-3.
Vitamin C Deficiency
Approximately 4,000 mammals can still synthesize vitamin C (ascorbic acid), producing, on average, some 50 mg of vitamin C per kg of body weight each day. Although humans have significant requirements for vitamin C, they cannot synthesize it and are forced to scavenge it from their environments. |

The Environmental Working Group is a nonprofit organization that uses the power of information to protect public health and the environment. They recently completed a study of the toxic chemical and its presence in name-brand canned goods, finding that 50% of those canned goods contained bisphenol A. To make matters worse, the FDA states about 20 percent of the U.S. diet comes from this form of food packaging. Even so, there are no current government safety standards that regulate how much BPA is allowed in canned foods. |

Meatless eating often costs less, helps the environment (some would argue), and confers health advantages. "Besides reducing the saturated fat content of your diet because you aren't eating animal fats, there are other benefits to a meatless day or two each week," says Julie Upton, MS, RD, with the Environmental Nutrition newsletter. According to Upton, vegetarian diets are lower in total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, plus they include more of the beneficial nutrients found in plant foods, like vitamins A and C, potassium, fiber, and phytonutrients like beta-carotene and lycopene. |

Mercury fillings, for example, currently release 34 metric tons of toxic mercury into the environment each year. That's about as much as all the coal plants in a sizeable nation, yet the EPA pretends mercury fillings have no environmental impact whatsoever.
Aspartame, too, is a known toxic substance that's well documented as a neurotoxin. And fluoridation? Well, let's just say that once you realize where the "fluoride" really comes from (it's a toxic waste chemical scraped off the emissions scrubbers of coal-fired power plants), you start to understand the magnitude of the fluoridation scam. |

Normally, the acid environment of the stomach helps to break food down for further digestion. Throughout the digestive tract, hundreds of species of good bacteria also help to break down food, enhance immune function, and protect us from infection. Acid-suppressing drugs alter the environment within the digestive tract. They increase our risk of developing atrophic gastritis, which throws a wrench into the absorption of vitamin B12, vitamin C, and likely many other nutrients. They may also reduce calcium absorption, which would explain the greater risk of having a hip fracture. |

Get Enough Rest
So many things interfere with our ability to get a good night's sleep. Sometimes anxiety keeps us awake at night. Other times, our dietary habits, such as drinking too many caffeine-containing beverages, make us too keyed up to sleep. Heartburn is often caused by consuming soft drinks or processed foods, especially in the evening, and can disrupt sleep. |

However, if you are in a work situation where you are constantly being exposed to toxic fumes or if your home is located near a toxic waste dump, the chances that your environment is contributing to your condition of estrogen dominance is even greater.
Environmental estrogen, or xenoestrogen (pronounced "ZEE-no-estrogen"), can be found in pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, plastics, fuels, car exhausts, dry cleaning chemicals, industrial waste, and meat from animals that have been fed estrogenic drugs to fatten them. |

How to Reduce the Estrogens in Your environment he following list can help you to take action to reduce the effect of environmental estrogens in your life:
• Because some plastics shed xenohormones when heated, assume that they all do, and protect yourself accordingly. Don't drink hot beverages from plastic cups and don't drink water from a plastic bottle that has been left in the sun or in a hot car.
• Don't microwave your food or drinks in plastic containers; avoid using plastic wrap to cover food in the microwave. |

Taking action to make this a reality is a lot more powerful than sitting back and criticizing other corporations for being such lousy stewards of the environment. I believe that right now is a time for action. That's why I've decided to launch these companies now. Waiting around for the status quo to change things will never happen. If we want positive changes to happen in the business community, we must demonstrate how it's done with eco-friendly products that are good for consumers and good for the environment. |

It's environmentally friendly, it degrades in the environment and there's no pollution. This is where it's going in big business over the next 20 years. I think everybody in his or her heart knows that we can no longer exploit the planet. We have to do everything we can to live in harmony, to plant trees, to create a peace. You know, there's an old saying my dad told me once. He said, "Don't crap where you live."
Mike: That's very good advice, because we all live on this planet.
Wolfe: Yes, and we've got to keep it clean. |

Promoting the use of compact fluorescent lights is, I believe, creating a serious threat to the health of our environment. Most consumers do not properly recycle fluorescent lamps. While the widespread consumption of fluorescent lights may save our nation from wasting electricity on incandescent lights, it may also lead to a mercury contamination catastrophe. Never before in the history of our world has so much mercury been so widely distributed across the environment. The long-term effects of this contamination are currently unknown, but they can only be negative. |

Mercury is found in fish because industrialized nations continue to pollute the environment with mercury from dental fillings ("silver" fillings) and coal-fired power plants. Mercury fillings introduce over 300 metric tons of mercury into the environment each year.
In the U.S., the FDA warns women about the health hazards of excess mercury consumption, but fails to inform the public of the tremendous health benefits of oily fish. |

We've also had these specifically manufactured with internal NiMH batteries instead of NiCad batteries, so these products have longer life and are safer for the environment. The battery capacity is higher on these than on any similar product you'll find anywhere.
Most manufacturers just choose the cheapest, most toxic batteries they can find, because consumers usually don't know the difference. But we went out of our way to have these manufactured to be far safer for the environment while offering greatly improved battery life. |

But what if corporations suddenly started acting with greater responsibility towards the environment, the people and our collective future? Imagine the good we could accomplish...
Part of my aim here is to demonstrate how responsible corporations can achieve commercial success while protecting health, consumers and the environment. I believe we CAN do well by doing good, and we CAN create a better future even while creating increased economic abundance for our fellow human beings. We do NOT have to pit the business against the economy. |

Throway batteries are bad for the environment. If you care about saving money, or protecting the planet, or conserving natural resources, NiMH rechargeable batteries are clearly the only way to go. Even if you're not concerned about the environment, throwing money away is still a bad decision for financial reasons. Why spend two bucks on a fully-charged battery when you could spend two cents? |

You will see that the only nations with any sort of future are those that protect and nurture the health of their people and their environment, taking a long-term perspective rather than short-term economic gain. America has no long-term vision other than controlling world oil resources. America has no investment whatsoever in the health of its people and virtually no effort to protect its environment. America is fixated on short-term thinking and stop-gap measures, ignoring the greater concerns of education, renewable energy, individual health and individual liberty. |
